Newlon is the recipient of the “2013 Centers of Excellence” Award
The Colorado Department of Education celebrated the 2013 school performance results and honored schools that earned acclaim in award categories including 2013 Centers of Excellence. Established by the Colorado State Legislature, the Centers of Excellence award recognizes schools that demonstrate the highest sustained rates of student longitudinal growth as measured by the Colorado Growth Model among those that have at least 75 percent at-risk students. In 2013, 19 schools earned this award. Of the 19 schools awarded this honor, 14 were from Denver Public Schools, including Newlon Elementary.
